It all kicked off in February 2022 when the news rippled through our college campus like wildfire. JP Morgan was gearing up to offer internships to the talented bunch from our batch. My heart did a little dance as I imagined myself walking through those sleek JP Morgan office doors.
But hold on, the journey had just begun. First things first, we had to register for the placement drive and upload our resumes. Easy, right? Well, not quite. There were some basic eligibility criteria: a CGPA above 6.5 or 7 (depending on the day of the week) and no pesky backlogs.
Round One: The Coding Test
Fast forward a few days, and guess what? Almost everyone in my class made it through to the Coding Round. Here, I was presented with two questions, one involving arrays and the other tackling strings. Truth be told, they weren't brain-bending riddles. The difficulty level? Somewhere between 'easy peasy' and 'moderate.' We had 45 minutes to crack these coding conundrums, and that's where my data structures and algorithms prep came in clutch.
Round Two: The HireVue Interview
The next stop on this JP Morgan adventure was the HireVue Interview, a rendezvous with an automated camera. This part was a breeze—two behavioral questions, two minutes to answer each, and the whole shebang wrapped up in under 10 minutes. I was asked where I saw myself in five years (still figuring that one out) and why I wanted to be a part of the JP Morgan family (hint: they're kinda awesome).
The Golden Ticket: Code For Good Hackathon
After a nail-biting wait, I received news that only seven students from my college were chosen for the coveted "Code For Good Hackathon." Drumroll, please! I was one of the chosen seven, and the excitement was real.
The hackathon week was like a whirlwind of learning, problem-solving, and teamwork. We attended sessions, met mentors and team members, and immersed ourselves in the world of non-profit problem-solving. My team managed to snag the 2nd position for our problem statement, a proud moment indeed.
The Moment of Truth: The Internship Offer
Then came the ultimate cliffhanger: waiting 45 days to find out if I made the cut for the internship. The tension was palpable. But when the day arrived, there was good news. I was the lone ranger from my college who scored an internship offer. And the cherry on top? Six out of seven of my teammates also got the golden ticket.
It taught me a valuable lesson—teamwork and collaboration are just as essential as technical skills. So, remember to communicate and be a team player.
Tips for Future Hackathon Warriors
If you're gearing up for a hackathon, here are some words of wisdom:

The Internship Adventure
Fast forward to June 2023, and I found myself diving headfirst into my JP Morgan internship. Two months of full-stack coding, collaborating with teammates, and utilizing technologies like ReactJS, Jest, Springboot, MySQL, and BitBucket. I managed to ace multiple tasks before deadlines and made a significant impact on the project.
During the internship, I discovered that communication and teamwork are just as vital as technical skills. I was fortunate to work with a fantastic team and manager, who were not only supportive but also incredibly friendly.
The Pinnacle: The PPO
After completing my internship on August 9, 2023, I was on pins and needles. Would I land the coveted Pre-placement offer (PPO)? The fate of my future at JP Morgan hung in the balance.
But on August 12, 2023, my inbox delivered the news I'd been waiting for—I had secured a full-time offer! I was on cloud nine, floating on the euphoria of my hard-earned success.
